Born in Hove, Sussex, England, I was educated in Norfolk in the 1960’s. An Honours Degree in Fine Art at Leeds College of Art followed. Whilst keeping up my personal work, I embarked on a very rewarding teaching career lasting some 30 years, interspersed with some travelling. Since giving up the day job in 2001, I have been fortunate to be able to paint full time. I am an ‘on the spot’ artist, making rapid and informative visual notes suitable for working into larger work. My work aims to reflect or react to the many sensations received over a period of time when different events occur – flights of birds, noises, visiting people, changes of light and times of day. I live in Tenterden, Kent, with my wife Vivienne, and we have two grown up children.
